Willowell Circus Camp: STARS & COMETS
OVERVIEW
The circus is coming to town!!
Willowell is thrilled to bring Tristan Cunningham to Monkton this summer for two weeks of joy and magic. Cunningham is a Vermont native and long time circus artist & actor. She started her circus days when she was only ten and toured with Circus Smirkus for 8 summers! She is also a trained acrobat and juggler and has performed with Circus Bella, Velocity Circus, Medical Clown Project, Cirque Berzerk, San Francisco Mime Troupe and circus legends Alberto Zoppe and Marcel Marceau (read her full bio here).
STARS and COMETS Circus Camp is an all skill level, week long camp for ages 7-10 (STARS) and ages 7-12 (COMETS).
Calling all kids who want to jump into the wonderful world of circus! Campers will learn juggling, acrobatics, human pyramids, stilt walking, and CLOWNING! The week will end with a community-wide performance, where our circus stars and comets get to show off their new moves.
Beyond learning new skills and tricks, circus arts are beneficial to campers for so many reasons. It helps build confidence, hand eye coordination, communication skills, strength, trust, and most importantly it's fun! Clowning is an area where campers get to embrace their silly side, play, explore character, laugh with each other, and then share that laughter in performance with friends and family. Circus Arts in more detail:
Juggling: Scarves, Balls, Clubs, Plate Spinning, Diabolo (Chinese Yoyo).
Acrobatics: Learn rolls, Cartwheels, handstands, building shapes with our bodies, and partner acrobatics.
Human Pyramids: Weight sharing and lifting each other using strength and different parts of out bodies. Builds trust and community through mind-body connection.
Stilt Walking: Wooden peg stilts.
Clowning: Learn and explore the magical world of clowning, improvisation, slapstick, act creation, and stage presence.
Camp Prerequisites: None, this is a circus camp for everyone and all skill levels.
