Wren’s Nest Classroom Aid

The Willowell Foundation seeks a dedicated and caring individual to work as a one-on-one with a child within our program. This position will collaborate with a skilled teaching team to support a child in their safe and successful inclusion in the forest classroom. They will work alongside other teachers, and eighteen other 3-5 year olds who attend the program. Wren’s Nest is a fully outdoor school so the right candidate will be prepared to hike, support rest time, and teach in all weather. This is an opportunity for someone to grow their teaching skills and expand on a passion for place-based outdoor education while offering support to a fun, energetic five year old child who attends Wren’s Nest Forest Preschool. 

Compensation and hours:

Hourly position: $25/hour. Position is 22 hours a week working directly in the classroom, plus 2 hours a week paid planning and meetings time. It includes 80 hours of paid sick/personal leave.

Wren’s Nest Preschool

Substitute Teachers:

The Wren’s Nest Forest Preschool in Bristol seeks a team player who loves children and loves to adventure outdoors to join our outdoor pre-k program. We are hiring substitute teachers to work alongside a fabulous, skilled, and dedicated team of educators, fostering play-based, forest-school pedagogy with children ages 3-5. This position will be on an on-call basis and requires a flexible schedule. You will serve as a co-teacher, helping students navigate social and emotional learning, nurturing student’s wonder of the natural world, hiking, and assisting with self care (such as dressing, bathrooming, etc).

Must complete a background check, mandated reporter training, VT orientation training, CPR/First Aid, and enjoy working and playing outdoors in all weather.

AmeriCorps Service Member

Each year Willowell hosts AmeriCorps service members through the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board and ECO AmeriCorps.

These members serve in a variety of our programs, gaining invaluable experience in place-based, environmental education. They are integral to what we do, and we’re always looking for new, creative, caring folks to join our team! Many of our members have stayed on and been hired as permanent staff after their year of service.

Assistant Camp Leaders

Position Filled.

The Willowell Foundation is looking for Assistant and Junior Camp Leaders who want to gain experience in the field of education and childcare by assisting with the 2024 summer camp season. Assistant camp leaders will co-lead camps with seasoned and skilled staff for any number of week-long camps for ages 3-17 (broken into specific age groups and themes). This position will assist with the daily operations of keeping children safe, managing groups, leading games and activities, and having fun. The Assistant Camp Leaders will not be left alone with children or be expected to take a leadership role, unless they show that they are ready and able to do so.

The Willowell Foundation is looking for a passionate outdoor educator to assist at one of our newest programs: Pond Brook Middle School (ages 12-15) . In collaboration with skilled and caring teachers, this position will assist with the dialing operations of this traveling, interdisciplinary middle school.

This is an opportunity for someone to grow their teaching skills and expand on a passion and enthusiasm for place-based outdoor education.

$17-$20 an hour based on experience.
