
Patterns in Nature: Math Camp
OVERVIEW
Too often we think of math as something dull that happens on worksheets and white boards. But math is everywhere! At Patterns in Nature, we'll be exploring the hidden mathematics of trees and leaves, insects and streams. Using the forests and fields of Willowell as our classroom, we'll dive into some of the most fascinating pieces of mathematics and math history, with plenty of time left over for games and adventures.
This camp does not require any particular level of math skills, although some of the topics we cover will be more meaningful to campers with a solid math background. At the same time, this is a very relaxed outdoor camp, with no worksheets or quizzes or homework. Campers who have been on the fence about math are more than welcome, and may find a new interest in a topic that's often a hard sell in schools. Because math is everywhere, actually...
