Walden and Walden

The Walden Project from New York visited us this week, taking a lengthy road trip from Naples, NY to come and share a few days on the land here in Vermont.

Lead teacher Andy Webster visited Walden in Vermont in 2017, and decided that he wanted to recreate the outdoor education experience back home.

As the two high school programs sat around the fire on a breezy November morning, cooking up a Walden classic: vegetable stew. Around the fire, everyone reflected on their respective Walden experiences: loving being outside, building close community, getting a personalized education, freedom, and independence.

The trip ended with a pizza and poetry event in the woods, with students performing their poems and eating freshly baked slices.

We look forward to more visits, and the growth of this Walden community!
